Thanks for visiting my website. By using the menu above you can get a glimpse of my work as a Member of the NSW Parliament.
They will link you to information about the health portfolio, provide a picture of the electorate of North Shore and offer assistance to students wishing to learn more about the NSW Parliament.
One of the most frequently visited sections of the site are the media pages. There are dozens of them dating from the last election in March 2007. And I have listed a few of the latest press releases at left and you can find more by following the links.
Many people ask me what motivates me to work so strenuously to improve our health system, supporting the fantastic people who work in it and helping patients get the care they need.
Among my top concerns are the number of patients getting infected in our hospitals with latest studies showing there are more golden staph deaths than road deaths!! ... Please visit Hospital Acquired Infection for details.

Integrated Social Policy
The NSW Liberals/Nationals have taken an integrated approach to addressing social policy issues. Using a policy framework entitled Smarter, Stronger, Healthier, Safer the Liberal-Nationals Coalition has set out principles and goals for four social policy streams and has invited individuals, professionals, key stake-holder groups and service providers to contribute policy ideas.
The Coalition is holding forums around the state to elicit community views and has set up a website - SSHS.com.au - which provides more detail.
Any individual is invited to submit policy proposals - either through the website or using a simple submission pro-forma as a guide.
Reforming management of the health system
The Coalition's plans to reform the management of the public health system are outlined in a document called 'Making it Work' because senior health professionals had said there was no framework that would show how to make other improvements. The policy has been welcomed by clinicians and key bodies such as the NSW AMA.
Read the article about the NSW Liberals & Nationals District Boards that Jillian Skinner wrote for the Sydney Morning Herald.
Caring for children in adult wards
Jillian introduced Vanessa's Law to the Parliament on behalf of the NSW Coalition. Although defeated by Labor, the proposed legislation regarding treatment of children in adult wards is still of major concern to the Coalition which will act on in in government..
Other Coalition policies
The NSW Liberal-Nationals Coalition has already released a number of other policies for the 2011 election. For copies of these, videos, papers, petitions and press releases issued by the State Liberal Party please visit the website of Leader Barry O'Farrell visit www.barryofarrell.com
2007 Policies
Although NSW Coalition policies for the 2007 election are all being reviewed, those which I was responsible for - Health and Arts policies - can still be seen on this site. |
Key hospital issues

Many people have been contacting Jillian and her Coalition colleagues about deplorable conditions in hospitals. They are especially concerned about sweltering wards without air conditioning, and difficulties treating patients because of low supplies caused by unpaid bills.
To give you - staff, patients and families - an opportunity to help us identify what is needed and where, we have developed an audit survey for you to complete.
It can be found through the link above. |
The internet lets you make direct contribution to my representation. Please let me know if there is a particular issue of concern or interest to you.
My contact details can be found by clicking on the envelope icon in the menu at the top of the page or you can fill out and submit the prepared survey form. Print it out and fax it back or post it. Click HERE to download the survey in Acrobat *.pdf format.
All correspondence will be treated with confidentiality.
Best wishes
Jillian
