Wednesday 3 March 2010 NSW LIBS & NATS HEALTH POLICY WILL CREATE SMALLER HEALTH DISTRICTS WITH BOARDSThe NSW Liberals & Nationals health policy will create smaller Health Districts with local boards to deliver a broad range of health services and hospital care, Deputy NSW Opposition Leader and Shadow Minister for Health Jillian Skinner said today. “The NSW Liberals & Nationals will deliver a health system that re-engages demoralised medical professionals and puts patients first,” Mrs Skinner said. “Labor’s Area Health Services in NSW have failed to deliver better patient care, a point made by the Prime Minister today,” she said. “The State Labor Government currently presides over the worst run health system in the nation – it’s time to start the change. “The NSW Liberals & Nationals will remove Labor’s failed Area Health Services and create smaller Health Districts. “Each Health District will have it’s own board made up of suitably qualified members from both the local community and the local health facilities – under our model experienced clinician will not be confined to advisory roles, they will help run the system. “Kevin Rudd has blown the whistle on his own State Government in NSW and its incompetent management of the health system by singling out the “long suffering” patients of our state. “It’s time Health Minister Carmel Tebbutt signed up to smaller health administrative bodies, like the NSW Liberals & Nationals Health Districts with boards. “It is now clear that everyone except the NSW Labor Government believes their failed Area Health Services need to be broken up – it’s time for Carmel Tebbutt to start listening and stop ignoring the experts. “The NSW Liberals & Nationals health management model is the clear way forward. “The NSW Liberals & Nationals will put patients first,” Mrs Skinner said.
