Jillian Skinner’s Statement on the death of Professor Dr Chris O’Brien
I join with Opposition Leader Barry O’Farrell in expressing my condolences to Chris O’Brien’s family and colleagues.
I am personally saddened by the death of this remarkable doctor who was an inspiration to all. Through his expertise as a skilled head and neck surgeon, as the man who brought the work of Royal Prince Alfred Hospital to public attention to the television program RPA.
But above all through his own determined battle against cancer. His book, Never Say Die, tells the story of his positive approach to life, his love for his family and friends and his passionate drive to establish a holistic cancer centre to provide total care for patients with the disease.
I met Chris O’Brien numerous times and never failed to be uplifted by his passion for his work on behalf of cancer patients.
May the Lifehouse Centre at RPA always be remembered as his special contribution to multi-faceted care for cancer patients in NSW.
