SKINNER CONGRATULATES NORTH SHORE QUEEN’S BIRTHDAY RECIPIENTS

North Shore MP Jillian Skinner has congratulated the local residents who have been named in this year’s Queen’s Birthday honours list announced yesterday.

Mrs Skinner said all seven recipients had made tremendous contributions in a number of important areas.

``I think the number of people who have been honoured in our area speaks very highly of the commitment in the local community in all areas including health, philanthropy and business,’’ Mrs Skinner said.

Mrs Skinner said Mr Paul Francis, CEO of the Humpty Dumpty Foundation, had done a tremendous job raising money for vital equipment in the state’s public hospitals through a number of community events including the Balmoral Burn.

``Mr Francis and his team have raised millions of dollars over the past 10 years and this money has been instrumental in providing essential and often lifesaving equipment and services in the Paediatric unit at the Royal North Shore Hospital and many other hospitals.’’

Mrs Skinner said the contribution of North Shore residents in all aspects of society had been enormous over the years.

``People in our community feel very passionately about helping others and they make a significant contribution in many ways that impacts positively in all areas of society. Well done to all concerned in 2009.’’
