SKINNER URGES CLINICIANS TO MAKE MOST OF HEALTH INQUIRY RETURNING TO ROYAL NORTH SHORE
Shadow Minister for Health Jillian Skinner today urged clinicians and members of the public to get along to the second day of Health Inquiry public hearings at Royal North Shore Hospital next week.
The Garling Health Inquiry returns to Royal North Shore Hospital Wednesday 2 April 2008.
“I was contacted by several clinicians and members of the public who didn’t get the opportunity to appear before the Garling Health Inquiry when it visited Royal North Shore Hospital earlier this month,” Mrs Skinner said.
“Many of those people said they simply weren’t aware the hearings were on until that morning and they simply couldn’t reschedule patients and appointments,” she said.
“I want to take this opportunity to alert staff, patients and volunteers at Royal North Shore Hospital this will be your last opportunity to make your voices heard at the Inquiry.
“There are still a great number of people who want to have their say on the state of the NSW health system and Royal North Shore Hospital in particular.
“Given the events at Royal North Shore Hospital sparked the statewide debate about the health system, it’s important the hospital community make the most of this chance to send another strong message to the Iemma Government.
“It’s appalling the way Health Minister Reba Meagher has sought to keep these public hearings quiet.
“Reba Meagher is clearly embarrassed at the way these public hearings are exposing the failings in the health system,” Mrs Skinner said.
