Shadow Minister for Health Jillian Skinner said today the deadline for public submissions to the Garling health inquiry has been extended to April 11.
“The Garling inquiry has received many submissions from concerned members of the public about systemic problems in the health and hospital system, and I welcome the extension of the deadline to provide the Commissioner with more letters and information,” Mrs Skinner said.
“I would urge anyone who has not yet done so to contact the Garling health inquiry if they have seen or experienced some of the systemic failures that currently exist in the hospital system,” she said.
“NSW families should not underestimate the importance of coming forward to tell their stories.
“It is vitally important that the Garling inquiry has access to as much information about patient experiences as possible so the Commissioner has an accurate picture of what is really happing in our hospitals.
“The Health Minister Reba Meagher would have the public believe that there are no systemic problems in the health system, but families who have been touched by tragedy know this is not the case.
“This is the chance for NSW families to demand better health services.
“Commissioner Garling has been given an impossibly tight timeline of just six months to conduct his inquiries, he needs all the public help he can get,” Mrs Skinner said.
Submissions can be submitted to the following:
