North Shore is bound by the north shore of Port Jackson, extends northwards to the Spit Bridge and encompasses all or part of the suburbs of Wollstonecraft, Waverton, McMahons Point, North Sydney, Crows Nest, Milsons Point, Kirribilli, Neutral Bay, Cremorne, Mosman, Clifton Gardens, Georges Heights, Balmoral, The Spit and Beauty Point.
At the last redistribution the State Electoral District of North Shore included 44,291 voters. The majority of them live within the Mosman Municipality, about half that number within the boarders of the North Sydney Council and only six voters live within Lane Cove Council boundaries. It covers 18.39 square kilometers, is densely developed, with many multi-storey apartment buildings among substantial older style homes. Twenty schools, Northern Sydney TAFE, Mosman Evening College and the Catholic University are located in North Shore. There are many community organisations, social and service clubs and the region is well served with a generous volunteer corps. North Sydney, Australias 4th largest Central Business District, and the flourishing business/retail areas of Crows Nest, Neutral Bay, Cremorne and Mosman fall within its boundaries.
